Phootoshoot for restaurant - Food photographer Mumbai - Product photography


Capturing Mouth watering food images and presenting it for our client's restaurant menu. This week I had an amazing opportunity to do a food photography photoshoot. The client has started a new outlet and wants a food portfolio photographed such that I shoot only and actually what is served at the outlet and it looks mouthwatering and at the same time it should be real. The client insists that they do not want to use images available online on various stock photography sites because it all looks the same and manipulated and doesn't bring out the authentic presentation of their menu offering.

Customers do not want to feel cheated and manipulated. This philosophy  is what we strongly believe and we love working with clients who believe the same.

We prepared a plan on how to style and present the menu items like felafel, shawarama, biryani, pastas, chicken drumsticks and much more. I personally went shopping for vegetables and Crockery. The client was also enthusiastic and supportive for the photoshoot to be carried out at their site.

We kept the look and feel classy and clean to showcase the food authentically. I was happy to see a big smile on the client's face when I presented the final images and that's what gave me the desired satisfaction from my work.

Chennai Express - How Shahrukh Khan the Badshah of Bollywood beats the competition by being Shahenshah of Marketing and Sales

The King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan has earned himself a reputation when it comes to marketing his movies.

Chennai Express: 10 innovative marketing techniques

Posters in different languages: The film is going to be released in many languages and thus the promoters developed posters for the respective language. It added a sense of belongingness to the posters. The audience will be watching the film in several languages including German, Spanish, Tamil and Telugu.

Game: The promoters of 'Chennai Express' have launched a game based on the film. It is a move to tap the huge potential of the cyber games user base. The game app is available on both android as well as java based phones. The user will fights roadside goons in order to score points in the game.

Tie-up with products: Shah Rukh Khan is one of the leading actors when it comes to brand promotion. He has been associated with a long list of products and many of them are going to be featured in the film as well. His earlier film 'Ra.One' also saw Shah Rukh collaborating with popular brands.

Promotion on TV: These days, Shah Rukh Khan is visible on the small screen in serials and shows with high TRP. He is continuously giving interviews and talking to the participants but he never loses his charm and trademark smile.

Interactive movie channel: A media house is going to launch its interactive movie channel with 'Chennai Express', a huge feat to achieve for any film. Shah Rukh is known for his undying spirit and grace, so this move will help the movie channel in becoming a brand.

A new range of sarees: The star-cast of 'Chennai Express' launched a new line of sarees that have designs similar to Deepika's sarees in the film. If reports are to be believed then the 'Chennai Express' merchandise are in demand in the market.

Snacks: No matter where are you watching 'Chennai Express', you will get a chance to satiate your taste buds with your desired foods. The cinema halls will serve snacks carrying a local flavour in different metropolitans.

Lungi dance: This song was composed for the promotional drive of 'Chennai Express' but it has become one of the chief attractions of the film. Yo Yo Honey Singh has come up with a catchy tune and it is likely to fetch benefits for 'Chennai Express' at the box-office.

The Rajini brand: 'Lungi dance' is a very well planned marketing move. Shah Rukh Khan's film is based in South India where Rajinikanth's name matters a lot. SRK had tried the same trick in 'Ra.One' as well.

Fashion shows: Shah Rukh was recently spotted at a fashion show walking the ramp, an alien territory for him, but everything is fair in love, war and film promotion.

Chennai Express seems to be ticking all the right boxes which should give it a very favourable release: a holiday release, no clash, a huge number of screens (3500-3600), the length is rumoured to be around only 135-145 minutes, there have been no major controversies surrounding the film so far, the treatment of the film is massy, the film is directed by the Rohit Shetty whose last 3 films have all crossed 100cr, it stars the current audience favourite Deepika Padukone opposite SRK, it is co-produced and distributed by arguably the No.1 production house in India – UTV. And oh, the last big film (Bhaag Milkha Bhaag) to release would already have been 4 weeks old when Chennai Express releases.

Commercial Photographer Mumbai. FAQ How much do you charge for Product and Catalogue Photography? Which Camera do you use? Will you do photo editing?

Many people call us and ask questions like How much do you charge?
Which camera do you have? Will you do photo editing? Will you give an output on CD? etc...etc...

Before you become our client, we would want you to take a test ride of our work.

Send us a product of yours that needs to be shot. We will do a sample photo shoot.

For the Pricing it is important for us to know the size of the project, the kind of the output, whether the picture needs to be used for web or for print media, type of the products, type of the campaign,  type of post processing, etc...etc... If there is an external studio, model or location involved, then all the necessary co-ordination work needs to be done and adds to the pricing.


A Typical Product Photo Workflow  for a single product that we do involves:
  1. Selecting the Background and Lighting setup according to the Product that needs to be shot and making a Paper plan.
  2. Setting up the background, lights and cameras according to the plan.
  3. Cleaning the product meticulously to avoid any fingerprint, dirt or dust particle showing up on the picture.
  4. Actual shots. We take atleast 15-20 shots per product to get the right lighting, shadows and the angle that makes the product look awesome.
  5. Post Processing the image in the software. Removing any unwanted dust speckles in the image. Adjusting light, contrast, sharpness. Adjusting the surface colours.
  6. Creating the layout on the white/black background.
  7. Giving an output in a format  required by the client like a .jpg or a .tiff

For quality output we shoot the products with the Top of the line Phaseone, Hasselblad, Schnieder and Nikon equipment because we care to give an output that makes the client proud and the product stand out in the competitive world.
A product portfolio of 15 items takes 12 to 14 hours of work and sometimes more.
All this typically involves efforts of the Photographer, 1 Assistant and 1 Editor.


We understand that Budget is important for the prospective client and Quality matters at the same time to the client and to us, but there is no way we can compromise anywhere because of low budget..

No client likes or pays for hap-hazard, dull or shoddy work.
And We do not propose any low cost or low budget photo shoot.

Capturing mouth-watering food images for the advertising, editorial and commercial photography market.

Food photography is a still life specialization of commercial photography, aimed at producing attractive photographs of food for use in advertisements, packaging, menus or cookbooks.Visit any bookshop and head for the cook book section and you’ll be overwhelmed by the array of books filled with scrumptious recipes accompanied by wonderful photography of the meals being written about.

What is Candid Wedding Photography ? - Niraj Chitalia Photography Mumbai

For explaining Candid Wedding Photography let me give you the Basic idea of what is 'Candid'.

A candid photo is an un posed photo which the photographer took.


A candid photograph is a photograph that is made either without the subject's knowledge or without their explicit permission, hence they are captured unposed.
Almost all successful photographers in the field of candid photography master the art of making people relax and feel at ease around the camera, they master the art of blending in at parties, of finding acceptance despite an obvious intrusive element - the camera. This is certainly true for most celebrity photographers, such as Raeburn Flerlage.
Equipment for candid photography is typically lightweight, small and unobtrusive rather than big and intimidating.






Candid styles of photography are increasingly becoming popular both in general day to day photography but also in formal photographic situations. Last time I was asked to photograph a wedding the couple actually hired me purely to take paparazzi style shows of them and their guests throughout the day. They had another photographer for the formal shots and gave me the brief of getting a behind the scenes look of the day.


In terms of wedding photography these are the moments which the wedding photographer captured and you were unable to notice the photographer as when he / she pointed the camera at you and made you an integral part of the photograph while capturing the moment. If suddenly, while you are reading this blog post and someone points a camera at you, its a common phenomenon for us that your expression will change and may be you will become more stiff. Candid photography is a means by which a photographer can remain unnoticed and capture your expression and personality in a beautiful way so that you look more natural very unposed and not stiff off course. Depending on the situation in the wedding, the wedding photographer might also click while you were looking at the camera or he may just capture the moment and remain unnoticed. 






The emphasis in candid photography is to capture the story and atmosphere from the day, so the viewer has an appreciation of what the wedding was like, rather than a series of pre-determined poses. This term can be mistaken for meaning any photograph that is not posed or formal. Major emphasis is also given to capture the mood of the wedding, the ambiance of the wedding and to show to the audience how the wedding was like rather than having some posed wedding photographs.
